animal. vegetable. mineral.

Here lies an amassed collection of photographs of animal figures and statuettes displayed in house windows, all as seen by the pedestrian observer.  These totemic and emblematic treasures in most instances stare out past the glass, rather than into the home. Both alienated and exhibitionistic, they keep quiet, persistent vigil.

The imaginative representations and categories of our selves and our world, as they are devised through enquiries both rational and emotional, are continually re-negotiated as we inhabit the conceptual structures and paradigms erected in their wake.  That is to say…we live/work/play in and with designations that precede us, adapting to and manipulating them to our own ends. They are ready-made and ever-ready avatars, useful vehicles for projecting our selves into the wider world.
